Mega Maine Coons Refund & Deposit Policy
Last Updated: October 27, 2026
We know that buying a Maine Coon kitten is both a financial and emotional commitment. This page explains exactly how deposits, payments, refunds, and cancellations work at Mega Maine Coons — including your rights under Wisconsin law and federal regulations. This policy is incorporated by reference into our Sales Agreement and Terms of Service. Please read all documents before placing a deposit.
1. The Reservation Deposit
To reserve a kitten, a reservation deposit is required. Once your deposit is confirmed, we immediately remove your chosen kitten from our available listings on mega-coons.com and hold it exclusively for you.
This deposit serves as liquidated damages designed to compensate Mega Maine Coons for the real, measurable costs incurred the moment a kitten is reserved, including:
- Administrative labor: Processing your reservation, coordinating veterinary clearances, and arranging transport logistics.
- Continued care: Housing, feeding our specialized raw meat diet, and providing medical oversight during the reservation period.
- Lost sales opportunity: Declining inquiries from other interested buyers.
- Remarketing costs: Re-photographing, re-listing, and re-marketing if a cancellation occurs.
Both parties agree the deposit represents a reasonable estimate of those damages. It is not a penalty; it reflects genuine business costs.
2. When the Deposit Is Forfeited
Your deposit is non-refundable in the following situations:
- You change your mind: If you decide you no longer want the kitten for any reason, including personal preference or financial changes, the deposit is forfeited.
- You become unresponsive: If we are unable to reach you for 14 consecutive days after your deposit is confirmed, the reservation is treated as abandoned.
- Failure to complete pickup: Once your kitten is ready, we will coordinate pickup in Milton, Wisconsin, or arrange your transport. If communication is lost and no pickup arrangements are made within 7 calendar days of our notification, the reservation is abandoned.
- False information: If we discover that the information provided (name, address, payment details) is materially false.
3. When the Deposit IS Refundable
You are entitled to a full or partial deposit refund if:
- Failure to perform: Mega Maine Coons is unable to deliver the specific kitten you reserved (e.g., due to a health issue prior to delivery). You may receive a full refund or apply the deposit toward a different kitten.
- Seller breach: Mega Maine Coons cancels your order for any reason within our control.
4. Final Payment and Balance
The total cost consists of the kitten price (which varies based on European bloodlines, polydactyl/classic status, and breeding rights) minus the initial deposit, plus any applicable shipping/delivery fees. The remaining balance is due in full before your kitten is shipped or made available for pickup.
5. Hereditary or Congenital Defects Within One Year
Mega Maine Coons provides a 1-year genetic health guarantee covering qualifying hereditary or congenital conditions as described in the signed Sales Agreement.
If a licensed veterinarian diagnoses a covered hereditary or congenital condition during the guarantee period, the client must promptly notify us and provide supporting veterinary records for review. Certain breed-specific genetic conditions, including HCM (hypertrophic cardiomyopathy), SMA (spinal muscular atrophy), and PKDef (pyruvate kinase deficiency), are covered as outlined in your health guarantee.
6. Filing a Health Guarantee Claim
- Veterinary Examination: Have the kitten examined by a licensed veterinarian within the timeframe required by the Sales Agreement to establish a baseline.
- Obtain Documentation: Request written veterinary documentation describing the diagnosis, examination date, and supporting medical findings.
- Contact Us: Email hdobreva@gmail.com with the subject line “Health Guarantee Claim” and include your name, the kitten’s name, purchase date, and supporting files.
- Claim Review: We will review the documentation in accordance with the signed Sales Agreement. Claims submitted outside the coverage period do not qualify for review.
7. Situations NOT Eligible for a Refund
The following situations are not grounds for a refund, exchange, or reimbursement:
- Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP): FIP is a non-genetic, stress-induced mutation of the feline enteric coronavirus. Because it is an environmental response often triggered by the stress of transitioning to a new home, it is strictly excluded from our health guarantee.
- Buyer’s remorse: Decisions based on personal preference, lifestyle changes, or subjective expectations.
- Allergies: We highly recommend spending time with cats prior to purchase.
- Behavioral adjustment: Shyness or hiding, which are common during transitions.
- Negligence: Illness or injury caused by failure to provide proper nutrition, enrichment, or a safe indoor environment.
- Transient conditions: Heart murmurs graded 1 or 2, which are common in fast-growing Maine Coons and typically resolve.
- Failure to examine: Failing to complete the required initial veterinary examination within the contracted timeframe post-delivery.
If you find yourself unable to keep your cat, you must contact Mega Maine Coons first. Kittens purchased from us must never be surrendered to a shelter or rescue organization without our prior coordination.
8. Cancellation by Mega Maine Coons
We may cancel an order if the specific kitten develops a health condition making it unfit for sale, if a force majeure event disrupts delivery logistics, or if we identify a fraudulent transaction. Cancellations within our control will result in a full refund of all amounts paid within 7 business days, or the option to transfer the balance to another kitten.
9. Shipping and Delivery Fees
Delivery options are quoted separately from the kitten price.
- Refundability: If an order is canceled and a refund is issued due to kitten unavailability, un-incurred shipping fees are refunded. Fees already paid to third-party carriers (such as airlines for European imports or domestic flights) may not be recoverable.
- Shipping fees are not refundable for health-related claims under Wisconsin law, which generally covers the purchase price of the animal and veterinary fees, not ancillary transport.
10. Payment Disputes and Chargebacks
If you have a concern about a charge, please contact us directly at hdobreva@gmail.com or call (262) 309-4682 before filing a bank dispute. We document all click-wrap agreements, sales contracts, delivery confirmations, and communications. Filing a chargeback for a kitten that was delivered as described without pursuing our resolution process is considered friendly fraud, and we reserve the right to pursue available legal remedies.
11. How Refunds Are Processed
- Method: Refunds are issued to the original payment method. We do not issue refunds by wire transfer or cryptocurrency.
- Timing: We initiate approved refunds within 7 business days. It typically takes 5 to 10 additional business days to appear on your statement.
